Many of our longer term internships include 12 weeks training on a GVI volunteer program, followed by a 12-week work placement with GVI or one of our partners. Our shorter internships include just the placements with amazing organisations.
Experience what it’s like to live and intern abroad in amazing locations around the world. Work in conservation, social enterprise, community development or tourism and build a lifetime of experience and contacts.
After a successful internship, qualifying candidates may be given the opportunity to work for GVI or selected partner organisations.
“All GVI internships contain academic qualifications, as well as hands-on practical experience. Built within your internship, all these qualifications are experienced-based, making learning fun, as well as worthwhile, giving you experience that may help you into university or give you the boost you may need for a career change.
All short-term (12 weeks or less) GVI Internships contain a structured course in delivering teamwork and leadership experience. There is also a short-term course available, designed specifically for learners who wish to follow a short program of study directly related to their work experience or to an aspect of employment that they wish to move into.
GVI’s experienced staff will teach you how to work with others within a leadership role. Upon completion, you will have accrued a broad understanding of the principles of leadership, how to work as a leader of a team and understand key issues involved in leading a productive team. These invaluable skills can be perfected during the internship with direct, hands-on experience and in-house support of your dedicated mentors. The basic skills you learn will be transferable to any environment around the world, giving your CV a great boost.”
Worried about it being too expensive?
Fear not! You can raise money by following the fundraising scheme
Since we opened our doors in 1997, GVI has spent over 70% of all funds directly on our projects. It is our mission to support field operations in the long term. Rather than abandon programs that recruit fewer volunteers, we strategically invest from our fully-staffed sites to help maintain our presence across the globe. – GVI International
GVI will give you all the help you need with fundraising; from giving you ideas to helping you out. There is also the GVI Cadet option!
To become a GVI Cadet and raise money for your trip, you need to:
- Paint face green
- Post about your trip on Facebook
- Link the careers page to your social network
- Give a presentation about GVI
- Throw a pub quiz
These tasks can earn you points, points mean money, which is money off your trip!
E.g. 800 points = £450 off your trip!
